Presented by Astoria Uppertown Business Association
About THe Event
CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAY SEASON IN UPPERTOWN ASTORIA!
Take a ride on the Astoria Riverfront Trolley to the Columbia River’s North Pole at PIER 39 this December 14th and 15th.
First Stop: Book your tickets online and pick-up your wrist band at our Welcome Table inside the Barbey Trolley Depot [old train station next to the Maritime Museum]. That is where your journey begins! Have your photo taken by our professional photographer, enjoy musical acts, puzzles, crafts, live streaming Christmas movies, and take a ride with Santa aboard the old 300 Trolley, bedecked in garlands, lights, wreaths and ornaments.
Next Stop: The NORTH POLE on PIER 39 for more holiday fun! Photos with Rudolph and Frosty, shopping with the artisans and collectors, plus yummy foods from Pier 39 eateries and market vendors. And, the sing-along Christmas song and reading of Night Before Christmas by Erin Lehn [the Joy Warrior] and the Merry Makers, inside the Storytime Theater event space. If you time it right, you may even see The Grinch roaming the pier. Check the Event Schedule for full details.
The trolley will ride back-and-forth along the Columbia River starting with the first boarding at The Barbey Center [old train station] at 11:00am.
The event runs Saturday and Sunday, December 14th and 15th, with the last trolley ride back from The NORTH POLE on PIER 39 at approximately 7pm. It’s impossible to time the trolley exactly, so we ask that you arrive 15-20 minutes before your boarding time. The trolley will wait for the final Storytime to end prior to leaving The NORTH POLE on PIER 39 for the last time, if after 7pm. There will be a final sweep at 7:30pm.
SPECIAL NOTE: The trolley is unable to run in inclement weather like heavy rain or snow. If this should happen, you will you will be able to enjoy the entire event at both buildings. We will also have a back-up double-decker bus on alert to help transport back and forth.
Anyone can explore the Barbey Trolley Depot and NORTH POLE on Pier 39 for FREE. The special holiday treats and Storytime performance can be purchased separately - otherwise, they are included with your purchased trolley ticket.
For those needing assistance or having trouble walking over the bridge, Bart the Cart holds 8 passengers and will be running back and forth from the trolley stop at 39th to The NORTH POLE on PIER 39, where you will be met by an escort to show you the way. [Please email us with your boarding time to ensure your spot on Bart the Cart.]
